Directing and Organizing

Working from the core of world dance by directing and organizing productions; that too is one of the contributions of the WereldDansWerkPlaats. In world dance, there is great value in telling stories. Adventurous and artistic productions are created together through interaction with dancers and makers.

The passion for collaborations between young talents and professionals in different (dance) styles is central to the productions of WereldDansWerkPlaats. Unexpected connections and transcending style dancing are stimulated in this way.

Dragon’s Child

The first own dance theatre production of the WereldDansWerkPlaats was created in 2019: Dragon’s Child. This production was created in collaboration with choreographer Cunsong Xu.

The piece is about the different forms of Chinese identity in the Netherlands. Dance, theatre, martial arts, live music and amateurs and professionals all come together on stage. Dragon’s Child premiered at the Global Dance Festival in 2019.

Cunsong Xu is a dancer and choreographer. He was born in China and attended both the dance academy in China and Codarts in Rotterdam. Cunsong Xu is currently artistic director and choreographer at his own dance company Groundbreakers.
